Flash your heart. I won't mistreat it. I promise.

Today there was a farewell lunch for a member of our staff - Jeff, the youth program co-ordinator. He’s been there for about 8 years and when it came time for people to say things about him, the thing said that touched me the most was that he was like a father figure to the youth. Nearly every young person that spoke echoed that statement. Jeff, the dad, the grandpa in some cases, to their children, the man in their life that they could confidently look to as a proper example.

Jeff lived out 1 Corinthians 13 in his work. He credited his upbringing a lot. I like that. From generation to generation, instilling values and character in the youth you’ve been entrusted with. Now they in turn will do the same to those under their care. It’s a lot to think about - potential generational impact of our words, our actions, on anyone … makes me want to live out 1 Corinthians 13 as best as I can, with Christ’s help.

I will miss Jeff but surely his legacy will remain far after he’s gone.
